Sera here, bringing you one [1 ]Saber aka. Arturia Pendragon from the Fate/Stay Night series. She is a stubborn girl with a strong sense of honor and duty but she really is sweet when it comes down to it.
I'll be dropping Nishiki, though. Not that anyone cared. lol

Commenting on Edward's permissions post at this juncture would probably be appropriate! http://kingoflobsters.dreamwidth.org/1022.html

And or having Anna wonder if she's a timeskipped Sara.
because she wields mecha-Saber in my weird headcanonno subject
And it probably doesn't help that Saber is canonically able to pilot any kind of vehicle.

Please make this happen when I post Anna's Pilot Training log.

Shirou and summoning
Unlike Final Fantasy mages, Anders doesn't summon things for combat as a matter of course. There is a context within which he can summon things (or rather, Justice can), and I can think of a reason why he'd try to do it here: to reassure himself he can't do it here.
If you need someone to summon Shirou, I think I can arrange a scene wherein Anders tries to summon shades, obviously hoping he'll fail; he'll need another character or two to stand by and kill them if he succeeds, and possibly also to kill him: natural candidates might be Nathaniel, Karagen, Quote, or Martin (maybe Hawke depending - I'm not sure, as he might not want her involved, but she's been able to defeat his shades in the past). And when he tries to summon shades, of course, it doesn't work, thankfully — but he ends up summoning Shirou.
Does this sound plausible? I know nothing of Fate/Stay Night.
Re: Shirou and summoning
(hey, Anders is a serious fighter, but Hawke's taken him out more than once. She wasn't being devil-may-care when she stated she wasn't worried about him summoning up shades. Been there, done that, got the heraldic shirt)
Re: Shirou and summoning
The argument against having her there is (1) not wanting her to know he's doing such a completely dumbass thing, (2) not wanting to put her in danger, since his summoning shades again is actually a fear of his in large part because of how it might harm her.
But overall, a really strong argument could be made that he'd have sufficient trepidation about this to need to talk to Hawke about it, at which point it'd become a foregone conclusion that she would need to be there. Could make it an all Dragon-Age allstar team of Nathaniel, Hawke, and maybe Karagen if Onyx is up to it; could, alternately, make it a People Who Can Deal With Possession team of Martin and Hawke.
Either way, I think the logical setting would be in the target practice cargo bay.
(Note: Shirou/Anna's mun is in Pacific time zone, he's unlikely even to see this yet, possibly to be awake yet. *g* Sorry for spamming, Saber!)

Is Anders the sort of person who would as King Arthur the Female to stand watch at that summoning?

Likely candidates for the personal effects could include Rin Tousaka's
heart containerruby locket, or Shirou's twin Dao sabers for use as athame.no subject
Why must you mock me dueling romanizations.

- The personal effects needed. Now, of course, Anders has no IC reason to possess these things. If Saber shows up, they'll be present, and perhaps could get drawn into the summoning or have magic ricochet off them or something, I will need to think about the mechanics of it, but: to merge Dragon Age mechanics (that are in turn drawn from lore rather than anything we see in the game; we never see a Harrowing, which is the ritual that purposely summons a demon) with Fate/Stay Night mechanics, I need to get a better idea of the latter. How does a summoning work, vis a vis these personal effects? (Example: Is this sort of like the old "use someone's fingernails and hair clippings in a voodoo doll" thing, using an item to associate the target with the magic? There's a similar concept in Dragon Age, in which blood samples are taken from each mage to create an artifact the Templars can use to track them.) Anything that involves blood magic, Anders won't do, hence an athame shouldn't come into play. There isn't anything much Wiccan or goddess-worship focused about Dragon Age.
- How this servant thing works. If Saber is present at the time Shirou materializes, is it possible for Shirou simply to gravitate toward her, thus obviating the need for Anders to be assumed as master?
- Is this too much trouble? Would there be a way Saber could summon Shirou on her own?

2: Servants instinctively recognize their summoners on sight, but if Saber is there he will have ABSOLUTELY no objection to your pointing at her and saying "She did it." Partially because -
3: Saber is not a Magus in her own right as far as I can tell, so someone else would need to summon Shirou on her behalf.

Not to say that he isn't going to figuratively being his Servant. Has a weakness to cats, oh King of Lions.
