How this one works:

Name: Ai Tanabe
Description: Idealist astronaut in a world where it's just another dangerous job.
Status: Working her tail off in Engineering, learning the Junk-Station systems and doing EVA work to make the station just look like a death-trap for anything that gets close. Still upset about the Christmas mission and trying to raise support for Doing Something about it.
Seeking: • Friends to hang out while off-duty.
• People for her to mentor, and to mentor her.
• Also, so far Ai has not developed any dislike for people. Somehow she's avoided all the jerks.
Pings: Space exploration and astronautics, discussions on love and friendship, people who need cheering up or talking down.
Plots: Ai is definitely going to raise the whole 'what do we stand for, besides not the Fay'lia' at the next meeting. It's bothering her, and she's the type who gets angry and does something. Failing that, if anything space-based happens, I'd like her to be involved.
Will Not Work With: I don't mind a couple rounds of Break the Cutie, but not infinitely many. Also, Ai is from the end of her canon, so is happily married, albeit to a man spending seven years heading to Jupiter and back. So anything romantic gets limited to her ignoring or shutting down flirting.

I do intend to get Mirys involved over there eventually, so she and Ai are likely to meet at some point. Whether they'd get along or not is up in the air.

I'm pretty sure she might fall under both of these too; she needs to eventually be convinced that the multiverse doesn't just explicitly hate her, and for someone to put her in her place if she starts turning into a real jerk.

Awesome. Plus, aside from Sah'ot*, Ai hasn't really let it sink in that folks are from really different places than her home.

* Which... well, genetically-engineered dolphin from The Future is weird, but a different kind of weird than magic and such.

I've been wanting to get Sheeana into a real knock down drag out idealogical debate with someone and she's definitely in favor of using almost any tactic on the Fay'lia, no matter the moral questionability. I'm sure there are people on the station who agree with Ai too (Wolfwood, hippies).

Sounds like fun. (For me, not for Ai.) And it would have to come to a head sooner or later, and it's easier for Ai to argue with Sheeana than the local resistance -- both from a 'planning' POV and because emotion matters to her.

I could see it turning into a three way clusterfuck between those who favor militarizing the station's structure (like Talbot), those who favor a cloak and dagger approach (Sheeana and the rest of the BG) and the pacifists (Ai and her supporters), with all of them being egged on by the Fay'lia double agents.

I love a good shitstorm.

It would be nice for Lain and Ai to do something together. Ai is the first person Lain really connected with on the station, so Lain definitely trusts her already.

It would
