The Vending Machine
In a dark, dank, ill-lit room, you find a vending machine. But this is no ordinary vending machine.
Once an ordinary, unassuming vending machine, its copperplate INSERT COINS message has been scratched out. It now reads "INSERT ANYTHING" in what might be blood.
You've heard stories suggest that the machine is evil, but that its evil manifests itself in its caustic sense of humor. Whatever is placed inside it's yawning, beckoning hopper, it will spit out something vaguely and ironically connected.
Long story short: This is a variant on the Evil Genie meme, wherein people make wishes and other people twist those wishes into something with unfortunate consequences [as an Evil Genie would] before making wishes of their own.
The point? It is, to use the classic phrase, merely "for the lulz". You can insert anything you like into the vending machine - sunglasses, swords, the complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy in five parts - but don't be surprised if you don't get exactly what you were expecting in return!
I shall now demonstrate how the Vending Machine works, with the time-honored "double post":
