The counter-propaganda magical girl show (tag: [pink bishoujo ghettoization]) is moving along and it's high time it had its own discussion post. We've discussed it over AIM but we, the mods, recognize that not everyone uses AIM or fits with our own schedules. Also some of us might want their suggestions noted permanently up here and us mods can forget things sometimes, so it helps us too.
For those who are new, the basis of the plot is that the Fay'lia have struck another blow in the propaganda war with the station by broadcasting a magical girl show that paints thinly disguised expies of the crew as the villains. The crew has decided to produce a counter-show with the opposite theme.
There is a <a href=http://community.livejournal.com/entanglement_rp/25298.html?style=mine>casting post</a> up. Pretty much anyone who tries out will get in the production in one way or another. In addition to actors, the show will also need technicians, artists, voice actors, and CGI people.
The show will be set in a cyberpunk future/present with nanites in the place of applied phlebotinum.
Our only for sure role casted is <b>Duck</b> as the female lead.
Tentative casting:
-<b>Yuri</b> as the male lead/Kamina style hero
-<b>Victoria</b> as the EGL villain
-<b>Ba'al</b> as the Goldfish Poop Gang leader
-<b>Mary Weather</b> as the female lead's best friend
-<b>Cain</b> as the brooding anti-villain
And <b>Tess, Nitori, Sheeana, Motoko, Sajit and Lain</b> on the technical and artistic side of things.
There are a number of other potential roles free, especially those of the lead's abusive parents, the heroine's animal companion and various rebels and villains.

...assuming someone would be willing to nudge him in aforementioned direction, Hiccup would be willing to help with tech/art stuff. By which I mostly mean art stuff because tech stuff is so far beyond his primitive little Viking brain. Though he is pretty boss at coming up with ideas and creating stuff.

Hiccup's in for drawing though.

"HEY HEY I'M A DRAGON!"
"WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?"

Well, you could probably rope her into helping to write cheesy dialog about love and ideals and such.

The whole thing takes place either in an unnamed (or named) city, or on an urban-zoned space colony (think Gundam Wing, kinda). Most of the action is centered around the local public school, at which Duck's character is a perfectly normal student. Somehow she runs into Yuri's character, who is a student of the underschool. The underschool is a school-within-a-school, where students learn the skills they will need to become rebels, anarchists, and vigilantes. Classes are held in unused classrooms, the back rooms of stores and workshops in the town, professors' homes, and anywhere else that might be relevant. Vehicles classes would be held at a mechanic's shop, for instance, and be taught by the guy who runs the place. A pop quiz for breaking-and-entering class would begin with (or perhaps consist of) getting into the classroom. Duck's character finds herself intrigued by this, and so tags along with Yuri's character to underschool classes, where she discovers that she's rather good at something after all.
Duck's character: normal school girl who finds out that she's good at underschool subjects
Yuri's character: infamous underschool student known to the rest of the student body for cutting classes and getting suspended
Maryweather's character: the smart best friend who manages to keep things in balance
Cain's character: the class vice president and truancy officer, tasked with keeping track of who is skipping classes and why, later covers for main characters
Victoria: class president and Cain's character's immediate superior
Ba'al: some kind of school administrator
Underschool students have a frequent tendency to skip normal classes, thus putting them into conflict with the student government and the truancy office. Cain's character is the truancy officer, who has a long-standing rivalry with Yuri's character. A large portion of the female student body has divided themselves into two camps, Camp Order (idolizing Cain's character) and Camp Rebel (Yuri's character).
Duck's character finds herself coming in conflict with both Camps, as she is spurned by Camp Order for skipping classes to attend the much more interesting underschool classes, and by Camp Rebel for her perceived sucking up to their object of obsession in order to undermine the group as a whole. Only Maryweather's character seems immune to the drama, given that she is Duck's best friend and, as she puts it, “You're not sneaky enough for that sort of thing.” Maryweather manages to somehow balance both regular classes and underschool classes, thus proving that she is incredibly badass.
